Tyco launch 'Smart Passenger Information Signs' using GPRS communications technology and solar power.
July 5, 2004 — Tyco has recently launched a trial of 'Smart Passenger Information Signs' using GPRS communications technology and solar power as part of a Victorian Government Greenhouse Strategy Initiative in Melbourne. The signs incorporate ultra-low-power communications modules and LCD panels to display route number and bus arrival time. This allows each of the units to work with unobtrusive 2W solar panels.
