Tyco, trading as Thorn Security (Hong Kong), was awarded the biggest Area Traffic Control System contract worth US$17 million from The Government of The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2008. The Tyco Traffic Team has been tasked with key responsibility of replacing the Area Traffic Control (ATC) Systems for Kowloon, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin and the expansion of the ATC System to Tseung Kwan O. This contract includes the design, supply, installation, testing & commissioning of the world renowned SCATS Adaptive Traffic Control System, central traffic control system equipment and 890 new traffic signal controllers.
Without a flinch, Tyco has defeated big international players to win this contract. Not forgetting 16 years of experience in managing traffic control system in Hong Kong, the win was also accredited to the expertise of both the management and the technical team. This success is on top of a recent award of a Closed Circuit Television System Contract (CCTV) from the same customer, The Government of The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

To complete the incredible win, the team has also won a five year maintenance contract for the whole system.
After having completed all Final System Design and Factory Acceptance Testing, the Tyco Traffic Team is currently installing new controllers (~900 under the contract), paying careful attention to road safety and to minimize disruption to the busy traffic in Hong Kong.
